Lazio Region – Health, Santori, FDI: “Chronically ill cannot book visits, Zingaretti clarifies”
“It is unacceptable to discriminate between series A and series B chronic patients that looms in the new PDTA project of the Lazio Region. It seems paradoxical but, to date, it is not possible to book specialist consultations for the chronically ill. How is it possible that sick people who experience difficult and painful situations every day have to rely on fate for good health services? On the basis of this discriminatory project, many citizens with diabetes, heart disease, patients with walking problems, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease carriers, and other chronically ill people will no longer be able to count on the certainty and continuity of care.
If this interpretation of current decrees and regulations is confirmed, such a situation will not only be detrimental to the quality of life of chronically ill patients but also unconstitutional and discriminatory,” says Fabrizio Santori, councilor of Fratelli d’Italia in the Lazio Region, who has submitted a written question to President Zingaretti on the issue.
“The new Diagnostic Therapeutic Assistance Pathways (PDTAs) wanted by Zingaretti,” Santori continues – in theory, they promise to ensure better care and services for citizens with chronic diseases, through collaboration with primary care physicians and Health Homes. In fact, however, a real discriminatory situation is looming among patients when the principle of voluntariness is brought up. The project provides, in fact, the voluntary adherence of the general practitioner who, on the recommendation of the specialist of the House of Health, will independently provide for the telematic booking of the examination and examinations and tests, in accordance with an annual package specifically defined by the Region.”.
“I therefore ask President Zingaretti how he intends to overcome the discrepancy in treatment, due to the adherence or otherwise of the referring professionals to the PDTA project. I would also like to know what, in detail, are the technical problems that are delaying the actual transition to the new system. I make no secret of the fact that I am very concerned about this transitional period.
I would not like to see confirmation of the already existing inconveniences of an inability to follow the usual booking procedure, not allowing patients to refer to the professional figure who usually assists them. I call on President Zingaretti – Santori concludes – to shed light on the matter and, if the serious problems highlighted are confirmed, to review this discriminatory project as soon as possible.”.
