IVF how much it costs to do it in private

IVF, how much it costs to do it in private

Having a child is the desire of many couples, unfortunately it happens that it is difficult to conceive naturally and therefore it is necessary to intervene in a different way.

The diagnosis of infertility

The diagnosis of infertility can be hard to accept but fortunately couples can undertake medical courses and treatments to realize their dream and give birth to a child.

One of the most effective treatments for getting pregnant is IVF, in vitro fertilization, i.e. the union of the egg with the sperm (of the donor or of the spouse) carried out in the laboratory (in vitro, in fact) to obtain embryos already fertilized by transfer to the mother’s uterus.

Through controlled ovarian stimulation ova are obtained which will subsequently be fertilized in vitro to obtain embryos.

Once obtained, the embryos will be kept in culture for 5-6 days and, after this period, one of these will be implanted in the mother’s uterus and the others will be kept for the future.

There are several centers in Italy

In Italy there are several centers, public or private, where it is possible to undertake the IVF path. In public centers you often have to get on the waiting list (and wait up to a year before starting treatment).

In private centres, on the other hand, things can be faster but the costs to be incurred are higher.

In fact, the related costs must be considered:

  • to visits
  • examinations and checks
  • consultations with specialist doctors
  • to drugs
  • to the hormone preparation
  • to in vitro fertilization proper

The Fivet in the private person can have a cost ranging from 3000 to 5000 euros both for that approval (in which both gametes who will form the embryo come from the couple’s members) and for Lheterologist (with gamets donors outside the couple).

We move on to slightly higher prices (from 3500 to 5500 euros) if oocytes from a donor are used in the treatment.

The so high cost of the Fivet is naturally related to the technologies and equipment that are used: since they are of high level, they necessarily require high costs.
